Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring is here, although in Idaho Falls, Rigby or Rexburg it may still seem like winter. Remember, April showers brings May flowers. 

It's a good time of the year to do a good deep cleaning of the house. Here are a few tips and reminders of things you should focus on. 

1. Changing the filters for your heater. This is an easy thing to overlook because the filter is usually located in a room or closet you almost never go in. Making sure that you follow the recommended schedule for changing out your filter will keep your heater running efficiently and can help with utility bills. Regularly changing the filter also help keep allergens out of the house. 
   
2. Check your smoke/carbon monoxide detector batteries. Look at your detector to learn what the procedure is for checking the batteries. Most systems have a button you will hold down until you hear a chirp. The importance of checking your detectors on a monthly basis is pretty obvious. 
3. Cleaning out the garage. Everyone hates doing it but more than likely there are many things in your garage that you haven't used in year. Selling these unused items or even better, donating them can free up a lot of space that can be used for more clutter that can be donated the next spring. It's an ongoing cycle, with no end in sight.
